Meet my inspiration and the loves of my life
I wouldn't be in this business if it weren't for the love of animals, specifically my own. I have 2 dogs that found me at different times in my life...
I met Lola when I was living
in Atlanta. My dogs Bear and Beijo were stolen from my house. I was heart broken and alone. I was at the local record store, my favorite hangout, when I noticed the clerks had a dog. I asked them who's dog it was and they said "yours". I volunteered to look after her while we attempted to find her owners. No one came forward and she is mine. I'm so grateful that she found me.
We moved back to my hometown, Chicago, and were high rise livin. A few years later we moved to Los Angeles so I could be with the other love of my life. We moved into a house a few blocks from the dog run and went there every morning. We had our regular morning crew that we ran with.
One morning there was a lot of comotion at the dog run. I asked what was going on and they pointed to a dog looking out the fence. They said she had been at the park all day yesterday and over night. They said no one could grab her and animal services would be there in 3 days. Outrageous!!! I sat patiently with her trying to get close enough to grab her. I had no luck until she started playing with Bernie, later to be my first client. She was distracted enough for me to slip a leash around her neck. We left the park and headed home.
When we arrived home my boyfriend, Mark, was conflicted. She was mean and had no fur on her back. I promised we would find her a home. A day later she and Lola got in a huge fight over the food bowls and Lola had to go to the ER. Then they fought again and Mark tried to break it up, he had to go to the ER. Then they fought over a toy and managed to knock the entire power out in the house.
At this point Mark said she HAD to go. I didn't want her to. She came from a rough life. She looked weird and no one wanted her. I "forgot" to call back the one person intrested after 4 months of trying to place her and now we have Darkness. Our Shar Pei something or another. She turns heads wherever she goes. She has an agent and is a trained actress. People can pet her she plays well with other dogs and we could not imagine life without her. She is our baby girl and the love of my life.
